Competa is a very nice, and the biggest white-washed village in the neighborhood. Enjoy the views when driving from Arenas to Competa. Competa Is spectacularly situated against the foot of the high sierras. Walk through the narrow winding streets and end up at the main square, Plaza Almijara. Enjoy the square with its 500-year-old baroque parish church, La Asuncion. Nowadays many expatriates are living in Competa. The village has many restaurants and pubs. One of the most popular fiestas in Axarquia is Competa’s Noche del Vino on August 15.
