Arenas

Arenas is part of the Mudejar route. The Mudejar route is a beautiful 75 km long route along the 5 whitewashed villages, Arenas, Archez, Salares, Sedella, and Canillas de Aceituno.  Mudejar is the name for the architecture Muslims used in Christian regions. Take a stroll in our whitewashed village. The Moorish influence is apparent in the narrow streets and small squares. Visit the beautiful Iglesia de Santa Catalina Martir. Feel and observe the quietness and way of life in this village. Though the number of mules sharply decreased they still can be seen sometimes in the village or working in the hills around the village. Due to the important role of the mule the village erected a mule statue and every year on  October 12, there is a big party the Feria de la Mula. Another feria, the Feria de Agosto is mostly in the second week of August and consist of a procession, music, and a fancy fair.
