Casa El Mirador is situated on a mountaintop just above the typical Spanish white mountain village of Arenas in Andalucia. Our beautiful house offers stunning 270 degrees views over the mountains of the national park Sierra Tejeda, Maroma mountain, the Mediterranean Sea, several white mountain villages, and on clear days the rock of Gibraltar and Africa. Sunsets are mesmerizing.
The house, up to 6 people, is located in tranquil surroundings and offers a beautiful secluded garden, a heated private pool, and privacy. It is the perfect opportunity for anyone wanting to get away from the hustle and bustle and enjoy a relaxing holiday, while the lively beach of Torre del Mar is just a 25 minutes drive. The capital of La Axarquia, Velez-Malaga, is a 20 minutes drive. Malaga Airport takes about 50 minutes.
Our casa is in the heart of La Axarquia, a region of Andalucia well known for its mild microclimate. In comparison with the rest of Andalucia, in La Axarquia winters are less cold and summers are less warm, with average temperatures of around 30 degrees in summertime. With an average of 320 sunny days and nearly 3000 hours of sun, it is the sunniest region on the European mainland.

About the house
Interior
Casa El Mirador is also our family holiday house en is newly furnished in 2022. We decorated it with love and colorful accents.
Our casa has a beautiful well-equipped dining kitchen and a very bright living overlooking the pool, valley, and the coastal line of Malaga city.
The house offers 3 bedrooms, each with a spacious double bed. All bedrooms enjoy a beautiful view. The master bedroom offers ensuite bath facilities. A second well-equipped bathroom offers a bathtub, shower, and toilet. A separate guest toilet is also available. Besides this, the house offers an extra sunroom which is by glass doors connected to the veranda. Both the sunroom and living room are very suitable to enjoy the mesmerizing sunsets. All rooms have AC.
The total built surface is about 190 m2.

Garden
The house is surrounded by a beautiful well-maintained Mediterranean garden with cacti, agaves,palm trees and colourful flowers. The garden offers several seating areas to enjoy the beautiful scenery and breathtaking sunsets.
Veranda
Adjacent to the sunroom there is a veranda offering an outside Moroccan-style dining area with a bbq
Heated Pool
Our large pool can be heated and is surrounded by thatched umbrellas with stylish sunbeds. Heating is on request.

Customer communication and helpdesk
Our house is managed by a professional local company called Take a holiday in Spain. They will do there utmost best to give guests an unforgettable holiday. They receive our guests and show and explain them the house. They are also the helpdesk for guests who have questions about their booking or the house, before, during and after their stay.

In the interior and a large part of the garden, wifi is available.

Heated Pool
Pool heating ensures a comfortable swim during the whole rental season. Heating is available on request.
Housekeeping
Cleaning
The house is thoroughly cleaned before and after your stay. This cleaning is included in the rental price.
Linen
Bedlinen and towels are provided and included in the rental price. Each guest receives a big and a small towel and an extra large towel for sunbed use.
BBQ
A gas BBQ is available.

Prices and bookings
Good to know:

All prices include final cleaning, bed linen, towels (including sunbed towels), wifi, water, and normal electricity use.

Security deposit: 300 euros.

Check-in time: after 4 PM, check out before 10.00 AM.

In high season fixed arrival/departure day: Saturday, in other seasons by mutual agreement.

Minimum stay: 7 days.

The house is not available for parties or youngster groups. The person, and guest making the booking must be over 30 years old.

Low season (1-14 May and 16-31 October): €1.050
Mid season (15 May-30 June) and 1 September- 15 October): €1.350
High season (Juli and August): €1.680
The above prices apply when you book directly through this site or the site of our local manager www.takeaholidayinspain.com. Casa El Mirador is also available for booking through larger booking sites such as booking.com and Micazu. Prices on these sites are higher and vary because you will also be paying the commission for the respective site.

Places to visit
There are a lot of beautiful places in Axarquia/Andalusia. Some suggestions:
Arenas
Arenas is part of the Mudejar route. The Mudejar route is a beautiful 75 km long route along the 5 whitewashed villages, Arenas, Archez, Salares, Sedella, and Canillas de Aceituno. Mudejar is the name for the architecture Muslims used in Christian regions.......
Malaga
The city of Málaga is very worthwhile to visit. The city revived in the last 20 years and is attracting many tourists nowadays. The inner city is beautifully restored and there are many cosy wine and tapas bars.........
Competa
Cómpeta is a very nice white-washed village, the biggest in the neighbourhood. Enjoy the views when driving from Arenas to Cómpeta. Cómpeta Is spectacularly situated against the foot of the high sierras. Walk through the narrow winding streets and end up at the main square, Plaza Almijara.......
Torre Del Mar/Velez-Malaga
Vélez-Málaga, with a population of 80000, is the busy capital of Axarquia. It is pleasant to wander through the streets of the old town below the renovated Moorish castle. The holy week, Semana Santa is celebrated abundantly in Velez by the 18 religious brotherhoods that organize several processions. ......
Nerja
Nerja is a touristic but still charming beach town with a cosy centre and cliffed beaches. The most important sights are the cliffed beaches, the Balcon de Europa (magnificent viewpoint and promenade), the El Salvador church, and the caves of Nerja ......
Granada
Another cultural jewel is Granada. The city has a beautiful old centre and of course the magnificent Alhambra. During the holiday season, it is necessary to buy tickets for the Alhambra in advance........
Activities, some suggestions:
Walking & Hiking
There are a lot of possibilities for walking and hiking in Axarquia.
The mountain ridge road on which the house is situated offers great possibilities to enjoy beautiful views. You can easily walk to the west or the east for kilometers. Leaving the mountain ridge road by taking a track or road down means you have to climb later. Be aware that tracks and roads can be very steep.
Beaches
The nearest beach is Caleta de Velez, approximately a 20 minutes drive. Because of the atmosphere and the excellent parking possibilities we prefer the beach around Jazba Bahia Beach club. It s on the west side of the Torre del Mar beach ( a 25 minutes drive ). In the summertime, there is live music in the late afternoon.
Ferias & processions
There are a lot of ferias and processions in Andalucia. A feria is a traditional festival (music, dance food, and drinks) often combined with religious processions. Axarquia alone has about 250 ferias and processions. They represent around 1000 days of festivities a year. Visiting a feria is a good way to learn more about the local people and their life.
Wine tasting!
Visit “Bodegas Bentomiz” in Sayalonga and see their vineyard and production area, and of course, taste their good wines! ......
Horse riding
For horse lovers, there is a company called Los Olivillos
, that can take you out horse riding on the beaches or in the beautiful Andalucian mountains.
Aquavelis Water Park
This water park offers various water-related attractions and also different Virtual Reality Games.
